At DutchCulture I work as an advisor for cultural cooperation with Indonesia. The best part of my job is that I get to meet inspiring Dutch and Indonesian artists, curators, historians and policy makers, and to discover the projects they work on. They all share the same passion that I have: unravelling new stories and perspectives on the often complex history that the Netherlands and Indonesia share. These new stories and perspectives are essential to understanding the current relationship between both countries, and to jointly define the next steps towards a shared future. Indonesia is an absolutely fascinating country, dynamic and so rich in cultures. I am grateful to get to know its story and people more and more every day, also because part of my own family history is in Indonesia.
I also work as an urban heritage strategies expert at the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam, where I coordinate short courses and training programmes, teach and perform research. I am interested in gentrification, urban heritage management, community empowerment initiatives and postcolonial cities, particularly in Indonesia.
