Culture Talk on sharing stories in Suriname

On Thursday 27 September a delegation of guides from Suriname will give a Culture Talk on sharing stories at DutchCulture.
Date(s)

During the Culture Talk on Thursday 27 September our guests from Suriname, professional guides part of United Tour Guides Suriname, will take you on a journey through Suriname's heritage wearing traditional clothing. This Culture Talk includes a film of circa 30 minutes, in which our guests will present their country, the different peoples living there and a part of their national history. The form of the presentation is interactive.

Our guests are Errol Gezius, Sieglien Hynes, Jurgen John, Jacquelin Premchand and Yves Tjon Sack Kie and they have visited the Netherlands on a visitors programme of DutchCulture from Monday 17 to Friday 21 September. The goal of their visit was to increase the quality of the stories shared by Surinames guides with school children, tourists, etcetera, especially on the multi-faceted shared past of Suriname with the Netherlands. During their programme, they have, among other things, had round table meetings with Guidor and the Black Heritage Tours Amsterdam team to exchange experiences, and visit the Jewish Cultural Quarter, Tropenmuseum and Amsterdam Museum.

The Netherlands Embassy in Paramaribo is a major partner in making this programme possible.
